Jake Knutsen

ABOUT

Born and raised in Florida, Jake has gone through high school with his friends Roland Lucas, Jonathan Hoeger, and Tyson Prescott. Over time, Jake had been less impressed by Jon and Roland's "bad boy" attitudes and began to distance a little.
This didn't stop him from joining them at GPU, though, wanting to be close to his friends as he got his degree in Psychology, wanting a job in that exact subject.
He looks up to his sister Kiera despite her only being a year older than him, he admires her determination.

Kiera Knutsen

ABOUT

Kiera has always been quiet and lonesome as a child, though only because she was completely focused on learning. One day she saw basketball on TV and begged her parents to get her lessons.
Kiera began playing basketball in 5th grade and never looked back. She is one of GPU's best players and often shows up her teammates by accident.
She is very close to her family and sees them as the most important thing in her life.

Roland Lucas

ABOUT

Roland was born into a privileged life with a businessman father and a model-turned-socialite mother along with his little brother, Shane Lucas. From a young age, Roland became accustomed to having everything done for him and the finer things life could offer. He met Jonathan Hoeger, his best friend, at the age of 7 and have been close since then. Roland only joined GPU to further his Football career and to keep his father proud.

Like his older brother, Shane has had a typical rich kid life. Father always busy and his mother always hopping from one social event to another.
Shane had always been jealous of Roland getting their father's approval, but he eventually grew to be his own person and found an enjoyment in basketball.
He's in school partly to see how far his career in sports can go alongside wanting to try his hand at Chemistry.

Tyson Prescott

Tyson grew up in Orlando with a single mother who had a string of boyfriends who never stuck around. Tyson wasn't very close to any of them and, in fact, felt uncomfortable by his mother dating so often.
In high school, Tyson had mildly gotten into weed which only increased (just slightly) when he became friends with Derek Quill. Tyson mainly went to college to be with his friends and because GPU has the best parties he's been to.

Derek grew up in a well-off family, never needing for anything. As a kid he was initially very proud of this, but over time saw it bother others. So by high school he had started living like he didn't have much money at all. His current best friend is Ethan Winchell, a guy who doesn't fit in with the popular crowd. They had met in high school and Derek found himself getting close to Ethan despite being two years older than him.

When Ethan was five, his birth mother (who he refuses to talk about) had skipped out on the family. It was two years later when his father married Sara and Ethan felt happy again. Sara had encouraged Ethan to continue following any of his passions, part of why he ended up at GPU to pursue technological engineering.
He has been friends with Derek for a lot of their lives, whether he likes it or not. Often feels strange for choosing a "nerdy" major.

Sandra was originally born and raised in Kansas, where her parents put her in plenty of beauty pageants that she won and brought money into the family due to.
After high school, Sandra found out GPU had a good cheer squad, so she moved out to Florida in order to join. She's taking classes for English, though she's mostly in college to advance her cheer career.

Jonathan is an only child, and his parents are often busy. His father works as a Middle School teacher, though after work, he often visits bars, and his mother is the CEO of a million-dollar company. As such, Jonathan is not often supervised by adults and gets into typical teenage trouble, such as hosting parties at his huge house and underage drinking.
He mostly went to college to be with his friend, Roland, and also started taking General Studies as he tries to advance his career in Football.

Niko has always been hot-headed growing up, which made him decent for sports. This anger never faded over time, even when he got married to Janet. Coach Reese began working as a coach for the basketball team at GPU, which helped him get some stress out by shouting at the players. Except he actually became more stressed whenever the team did bad.
Janet was unable to handle this for long and has recently divorced Niko, which only agitated and stressed him out more. His children don't talk to him either, not wanting to deal with his outbursts.

While it wasn't pushed especially hard, Dale had always been anxious about living up to certain expectations growing up considering his grandfather was Robert Santiago himself - the founder of GPU.
Dale had done what he could to keep his parents proud, though he felt a lot of pressure despite being the descendant of a college-founder wasn't especially hard. He always made it harder on himself than he had to.
So it made sense to Dale to grow up and be in charge of the college himself, which was essentially handed down to him from his aunt (who didn't have children herself) though typically the Dean position isn't something family-related.
